It will be held on Tuesday, April 7, 2009, from noon to 2:00 p.m.
The protest will take place outside of the Authors Guild headquarters, located at 31 East 32nd Street, New York, New York 10016, between Madison and Park Avenues in Manhattan.
When to Arrive:
Please plan to arrive shortly before 12:00pm. We will begin promptly at noon and end at 2:00pm.
What to Expect:
We will be marching and chanting in front of the Authors Guild headquarters and getting our message out to the public! Flyers and signs will be available. There will also be a lineup of speakers including leaders in the disability rights community. Dr. Fred Schroeder, former Commissioner of the Rehabilitation Services Administration and First Vice President of the National Federation of the Blind, will be the Master of Ceremonies.
If You Need to Take a Break:
There are several restaurants, cafes and sandwich shops on 32nd Street and on Madison Avenue that offer snacks and have restrooms available. We will have volunteers on site who can direct you and provide more information.
There are curb ramps on both corners of 32nd Street, at both Park Avenue and Madison Avenue. We have organized the event, including the marching area, to fully accommodate wheelchair users.
How to Get There:
- SUBWAY SERVICE: The 6 train is nearby. The downtown 6 stops at Park and 32nd, on the south side of 32nd. The uptown 6 stops across Park Avenue, also on the south side of the 32nd.
- BUS SERVICE: The M1, M2, M3 and M4 buses stop nearby. For details of the routes, it’s best to consult www.hopstop.com.
