Printer-friendly versionMy father is blind, and it is because of the amazing technology of text-to-speech that he has been able to read throughout his life. However, every time he buys a book he has to go through the painstaking and time-consuming process of scanning it and recognizing its text. Devices like the Kindle 2 do away with all this and make it so much easier for people like my father to access information that is readily available for sighted people.
